Joe attended SUNY Oneonta where he was the first four-year captain of the soccer team, a two-time All American selection and four-time All NY State Selection. After graduating with a B.A. in psychology, he was drafted by the Philadelphia Atoms of the North American Soccer League and the New Jersey Brewers of the American Soccer League. Joe played professionally for 10 years and served as Community Relations Director and Camp Director for each of the teams for which he played. He ended his playing career with the Wichita Wings of the Major Indoor Soccer League, for whom he also worked as vice president of Marketing and Operations and TV and radio color commentator for three years before moving to the San Francisco area.
Howarth brings a wealth of business experience to his role with LVM. He served as Vice President of Human Resources at Mid Kansas Federal Savings & Loan, Director of Administration and Facilities with Wells Fargo Nikko Investment advisors, and helped build Venture Law Group into one of the most successful law firms in Silicon Valley in the 1990s. Joe has been a successful coach at the youth and college level, holds a USSF “B” Coaching license, has completed the English FA Coaching Course and served as a scout for the Tampa Bay Mutiny of MLS in the league’s inaugural season. Joe has served on various boards, including the Epilepsy Foundation of America, the American Leukemia Society and Wesley Retirement Communities.
